STAC Falls to Molloy in ECC Women's Soccer, 3-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision in an East Coast Conference contest at Molloy College. The Spartans are now 0-9-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the ECC, with Molloy improving to 7-3-1, 2-2-0.

STAC battled throughout the first half and appeared poised to take a scoreless tie into intermission, but Molloy was awarded a penalty kick in the final minute and Dana Poetzsch converted at 44:24 to give the Lions the lead for good. The hosts carried that momentum into the second half, converting a pair of quick strikes to put the game away. Lexi Verni scored at the 65:25 mark and Poetzsch netted her second of the day at 66:21. Molloy dominated the shot count by a 16-5 margin.

The Spartans play their next three on the road, facing Mercy College in a noon start on Wednesday, October 16, in an ECC battle. Their next home game is Saturday, October 26, in an 11:00 am start vs. Queens College.
