Lady Spartans Drop Soccer Opener at AIC, 3-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team opened the 2019 season with a 3-0 loss against American International College in a game played at Southern New Hampshire University. The contest was the first of the season for both squads.

STAC held tough in a first half which saw few scoring chances for each team, but AIC was able to break through in the 33rd minute as Trystin Berger hit the net at the 32:30 mark.  That goal held up through intermission, with the Lady Spartans being outshot by a 6-2 margin.

The Yellow Jackets pushed in the second half, however, as Berger netted her second at the 51:01 mark and Beatriz Correia's tally sealed the deal at 81:52. Colleen Stevens made seven saves in the STAC net in her collegiate debut.

St. Thomas Aquinas returns to action with an 11:00 am start on Sunday, September 8, taking on Southern Connecticut State (also at Southern New Hampshire), and then will play four straight at Spartan Field starting with the Home Opener on Wednesday, September 11, against St. Anselm College.
