STAC Women's Soccer Falls At Roberts Wesleyan, 3-2

Rochester, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Soccer team dropped a 3-2 road decision to Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon in Western New York.

The loss takes the Spartans record to 1-4 and 0-1 in the ECC, while the host Redhawks improve to a perfect 5-0 and 1-0 in conference play.

STAC opened the scoring in the ninth minute, when Emily Ras' free kick was stopped by Roberts keeper Nicolette Knauf, but it was not completely controlled and subsequently knocked to the back of the net by Natalie Oden to make it 1-0.

The host Redhawks would knot the score at 1-1 with mere seconds to go before halftime on a Lillian Dickson chip shot over the head of Spartan keeper Colleen Stevens.

After the break, St. Thomas Aquinas would get yet another goal off of a free kick. Heidi Torre's long boot in the 56th minute would somehow find its way over the head of Nicolette Knauf and to the back of the net to give STAC back its lead at 2-1.

Roberts Wesleyan got even in the 70th minute on a penalty kick by Ella White, after teammate Larissa Johnston was taken down inside of the box by a STAC defender.

The final tally for the hosts game in the 89th minute, as Gabrielle Ciambella sent a through ball to Kara Choate who had a step on the last Spartan defender and danced her way around keeper Colleen Stevens to score the game-winner.
