STAC Takes Down Jefferson on the Road, 6-1

Philadelphia, Pa. - After a hard fought match at New Haven last Friday, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team topped Jefferson University 6-1 on Monday afternoon in Philadelphia.

The Spartans claimed the doubles point with the tandem of Eliza Mulder and Vera Gak Anagrova winning 6-1 in No. 3 doubles. On the second court, Samanta Villegas Robles and Elita Silins won their matchup 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
 
Giovanna Jallas was the first winner in singles for STAC, claiming the match in two sets, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 position. Viktoriia Pavlovets won at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2 to give St. Thomas Aquinas the 3-0 advantage. Elita Silins would extend the visitors lead to 4-0 with her 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles, followed by Eliza Mulder's 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (7) triumph at the No. 4 spot to make it 5-0 Spartans. The Rams picked up a win in No. 3 singles, but No. 1 Karina Blas would close out the match with a 6-4, 6-7 (6), 1-0 (7) victory.

Notes: Karina Blas was down 4-1 in the first set of her singles match, then won five straight games to take the set 6-4. Elita Silins and Eliza Mulder both went 2-0 on the afternoon with victories in both their doubles and singles contests.
