Orlando, Fla. - Dodging rain drops for the entirety of their match, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team picked up a 4-2 triumph over Rockhurst University on Tuesday.
The victory by the Spartans sets a new program record for wins in a single season at 12, with only a pair of losses as blemishes to their 2021-22 schedule.
The Spartans got off to a good start during doubles, winning two out of the three matchups. Paula Palero and Eliza Mulder won on court three by a score of 6-4, while Ebba Rosberg and Samanta Villegas Robles posted a strong score in the first slot, beating their opponents, 7-5.
STAC battled hard during singles, winning three of five matchups. Ebba Rosberg led off for STAC in No. 1 singles, defeating her matchup in two bouts; 6-1, 6-3. Karina Blas had another great performance in singles, defeating her opponent; 7-5, 6-2. Samanta Villegas Robles rounded off the singles matchups for the Spartans, winning the fourth slot by a score of 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (2).
