St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis athlete Anaya Brons has been named both the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, following the Spartans five-day run at the ITA East Regional Tournament in Queens, N.Y.
Brons reached the semifinals of the ITA East Region Singles Championship. The freshman from Utrecht, Netherlands took down Adelphi’s Caterina Federici in the Round of 64, Franklin Pierce’s Polina Georgieva in the Round of 32, and New Haven’s Lois Tsui in the Round of 16 before falling to New Haven’s Karim Carreras in the semifinals. In doubles with Elita Silins, Brons reached the Round of 16.
STAC returns to action on Friday, September, when they host Molloy University in a 3pm ECC match at the Riley Family Tennis Courts in Sparkill.
