Spartan Trio Excels at Treasure Island Triathlon

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Triathlon team was back in action on Sunday at the Treasure Island Triathlon in Point Pleasant, New Jersey.

Another week of stellar performances took place in Southern New Jersey, as senior Tyiana Nunez had a most impressive day both in the water and on the bike, finishing first for the Spartans and second overall in her age group in a time of 1:19.08. Behind Nunez, junior Jadyn Vargas continued her strong season on the bike, crossing the finish line at 1:19.48, which put her second overall and third in her age group. Finally, sophomore Stefania Georgiou excelled in the swim portion of the race, placing her first in her age group in a time of 1:27.02.

STAC will next turn their attention to preparations for the USA Triathlon Women's Collegiate East Regional Qualifier, which takes place on Saturday, October 19th in Huddleston, Virginia. The Spartans will be seeking a return trip to the USA Triathlon National Championships in Tempe, Arizona come November 16th.
