The St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country Teams raced at the Highlander Invitational at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.  Sophomores Sarah Callagy and Chelsea Klinger set personal marks in 19:58 and 20:57 respectively.  Senior captain Einar Brissing came through in 26:39 and freshman James Patton continued to improve with another twenty second drop crossing the line in 29:29.

The women's team finished in 6th place overall behind the strong efforts of Callagy and Klinger.  Classmate Lisa Brevogel stepped up with a season best 23:18 which will be very important to the team as the season unwinds.  Andrea Riquelme and Kelsey Scardera rounded out the scoring for the Lady Spartans.

Although, Brissing finished first for the Spartans on the men's side, senior Vinny Modaferri gave another strong performance finishing in 6th place in a time of 27:09.  He is a legitimate threat to opposing teams with his consistency and ability to run fast times.  Matt Muniz and Dan Nilsen were the fourth and fifth scorers for STAC.

The Spartans will return to action on Saturday, October 17th at the UAlbany Invitational.
