Galonski, Capolino Earn All-Conference Honors at ECC Championship

Junior Michael Galonski was named to the ECC All-Conference 1st Team following his 6th place finish at the ECC Championship on Sunday.  Rookie Joseph Capolino nabbed ECC All-Conference 2nd Team honors with his 13th place finish.  The Spartans finished in 5th place overall.

Galonski has received this award for the third straight season as the leader of the Spartan distance runners.  He set the pace for his teammates covering the 8K course in 26:40.  Capolino kept Galonski in his sights and made himself known within the conference as a key contribitor for the Spartans finishing in 27:21.  The remaining three Spartan scorers crossed the line consecutively with freshman Kris Trautz leading the way at 29:00.  Sophomore Joseph Chegwidden was next in 29:04 followed by junior Matthew Buell in 29:08.  Junior Michael Kraus and senior Garvenchy Nicolas finished in 29:18 and 29:49.

The STAC runners return to action in two weeks as they take on their fellow ECC opponents and the rest of the East Region at the NCAA DII Regional race.
