Borriello Finishes 2nd; Spartans Take Home Awards at Jack Saint Clair Memorial

The Spartan cross country team competed at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia,PA. The women’s team finished in 2nd behind the strong efforts of sophomore Kristen Borriello.  Borriello, who was the 2nd collegiate finisher, covered the 6K course in 24:25. Redshirt junior Meghan Ventarola also ran a strong race finishing in 9th place. The men’s squad earned a 4th place team finish with sophomore Vincent Vazquez leading the way. 

Borriello showed her strength as a runner battling the challenging 6K course for the first time this season.  Ventarola crossed the line in 25:03.  Senior Gabriela Sloezen was the third Spartan finisher with a time of 25:25 followed by classmate Cecelia Pfleging at 26:02.  Junior Patricia Nersten rounded out the scorers in 29th place with a 26:29 finish.

Vazquez finished the race in 29:19. Junior Jamer Linares ran a great race for the Spartans clocking a time of 29:40 which was good for a 14th place finish.  Freshman Harley Ruiz covered the 8K course in 30:34.  Junior Ryan Gasser (31:39) and sophomore Christian Diaz (32:12 were the next two Spartans ro cross the line.

The St. Thomas Aquinas teams will return to action at the East Coast Conference Championships on October 24th.
