Men Win Hudson Valley Superdome Invitational, Women Take 2nd

On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas cross country program competed at the Hudson Valley Superdome in Milton, NY. The men's team finished in 1st place, while the women were 2nd.  

For the men, senior Ian Mirtile was the top fnisher.  His time of 28:10 was good for 3rd place.  Juinor Aiden Russel was right behind him, finishing in 5th place in 28:24.  The next four Spartan runners solidified the victory in 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th places.  Junior Kyle Kondracki (29:11), freshmen Raymond Meagher (29:20) and Daniel Agostinho Vides (29:27) and sophmore Matt Tina (29:34) all ran solid races.  The first place team finish backs up a second place team finish two weeks ago at the NJIT Highlander Technology Challenge.  The team is currently ranked 10th in the East region.

On the women's side, junior Aida Torpey finished in 5th place in 22:38.  Classmate Rebecca MacLeod crossed the line in 22:52 which was good for 7th place.  Abigaile Kimbrell, a sophomore was next in 23:06 (10th place).  Juniors Laura Herbes (23:25) and Shannon Thompson (23:59) rounded out the scoreres for the Spartans as they recorded their second 2nd place team finish in a row.  The women's team is currently ranked 6th in the East region.

The team will not compete next weekend as they prepare for the ECC Championship on November 3rd at Roberts Wesleyan College.
