The St. Thomas Aquinas College Cross Country program competed in the 2019 East Coast Conference Championships, hosted by New York Institute of Technology at their campus in Old Westbury, NY on Saturday morning. The women's squad took a 2nd overall finish, while the men's team finished 3rd overall.
For the women's 5K, Abagaile Kimbrell was the top finisher on the morning with a time of 19:29.1 (2nd place). Following Kimbrell in order of finish were: Gabriella Mott (20:46.4), Laura Herbes (21:29.9), Shannon Thompson (21:51.6), Kayla Cobelli (22:01.2), Aida Torpey (22:03.7) and Jenna Borenkoff (24:25.6).
Meanwhile, in the men's 8K, Aidan Russell was the top finisher on the day with a time of 27:30.3 (8th place). Following Russell in order of finish were: Daniel Agostinho-Vides (28:14.2), Kyle Kondracki (28:31.6), Matt Tina (28:50.6), Zack Faljean (29:24.3) Hugh Durcan (30:00.3) and Patrick Gunn (32:17.4).
In addition, the East Coast Conference recognized the work of Abagaile Kimbrell (First Team), Gabriella Mott (Second Team) and Aidan Russell (Second Team) during the 2019 fall cross country season, as all three were selected by the ECC for their annual All-Conference honors.
The Spartans will now begin preparations for the NCAA Division II East Region Championships, which take place on Saturday, November 9th at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, PA.
