Spartans Continue Excellent Season at NJIT Highlander Challenge

On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed at the NJIT Highlander Challenge. The men's squad finished second overall and first among the field of Division II/III competitors, while the women finished fifth overall and second among DII/DIII opponents participating in the respective races in Newark, NJ. 

For the men, Aidan Russell was the top finisher on the day with a time of 25:40.4 (6th place). Following Russell in order of finish were: Daniel Agostinho-Vides (26:26.1), Kyle Kondracki (26:41.3), Matt Tina (26:57.1), Zach Faljean (27:16.6), Hugh Durcan (27:48.9), Jack Terry-Kantor (29:30.7) and Patrick Gunn (30:56.3).

Meanwhile, Abagaile Kimbrell was the top women's finisher on the afternoon with a time of 18:16.8 (5th place). Following Kimbrell in order of finish were: Gabriella Mott (19:17.3), Kayla Cobelli (19:52.6), Laura Herbes (19:57.1), Aida Torpey (19:58.5), Shannon Thompson (20:18.4) and Jenna Borenkoff (22:47.2).

   

The Spartans will next compete at the St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle Invitational at Bethpage State Park on Saturday, October 12th. Events are scheduled to begin at 12pm in Bethpage, NY.
