Spartan Cross Country Teams Continue to Excel at NYIT Invitational

On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed at the New York Institute of Technology Invitational. Both squads finished first among the field of Division II competitors participating in the respective races in Old Westbury, NY. The women's team took 2nd overall, with the men finishing 3rd overall on the day.

For the women, Abagaile Kimbrell was the top women's finisher on the afternoon with a time of 19:45.2 (2nd place). Following Kimbrell in order of finish were: Aida Torpey (21:09.4), Shannon Thompson (21:42.6), Gabriella Mott (21:50.1), Laura Herbes (22:25.2) and Samantha Biss (24:55.7).

Meanwhile, Aidan Russell was the top finisher on the day with a time of 23:31.7 (4th place). Following Russell in order of finish were: Daniel Agostinho-Vides (24:04.1), Zach Faljean (24:28.5), Kyle Kondracki (24:39.0), Matt Tina (24:55.1), Jack Terry-Kantor (26:53.6), Jason Luft (27:22.6), Hugh Durcan (27:22.9) and Stefan Saeed (27:44.5).

STAC will next compete on Saturday, September 21st at the Bard College Fred Pavlich Invitational in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. The men's 8K meet will begin at 11 am, with the women's 5K event slated to begin at 12 pm.
