Men's Cross Country Finishes Second, Women Third at ECC Championships with Three Spartans Earning All-Conference Honors

Rochester, N.Y. - On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed in the East Coast Conference Championships, which were hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College at the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails in Rochester. STAC's Men's squad posted a second place finish in the 8K race, while the women's team placed third in the 5K race.

For the men, Matt Tina was the top finisher on the day for the men with a time of 26:40.5 (10th place). Following Agostinho-Vides in order of finish were: Andrew Drescher (26:54.3), Alex Quillan (28:17.7), James Polisena (28:20.1), Daniel Agostinho-Vides (28:21.0), Jorge Dutan (28:32.0), Thomas Bovenberg (28:44.1), Charlie Moore (28:54.8), Jack Terry-Kantor (28:58.1) and Kieran Keenan (31:59.7).

Meanwhile on the women's side, Abagaile Kimbrell was the top finisher on the afternoon with a time of 18:10.9 (2nd place). Following Kimbrell in order of finish were: Madison Roth (19:50.9), Christina Maretzo (19:55.5), Lesly Marcin (20:05.7), Skylar Moreno (20:17.4), Gabriella Mott (20:17.8), Ciara Durcan (20:39.7), Grace Gregory (20:54.3), Sofia Echeverria (21:31.0), Ruby Pekin-Schlicht (22:06.0), Emma Neil (23:53.9) and Nicole Gysin (26:26.9).

Following the men's and women's races, the East Coast Conference presented their annual All-Conference awards. Spartans Matt Tina and Andrew Drescher received second team honors, while Abagaile Kimbrell earned a first team selection for their exceptional efforts in the conference championship meet.

               

St. Thomas Aquinas will next compete at the NCAA Division II East Regional Cross Country Championships, which will also be hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College on November 6 in Rochester, N.Y.
