STAC Cross Country Teams Remain Ranked in the Top 10 in Latest USTFCCCA East Region Polls

On Tuesday, the United States Cross Country and Track & Field Coaches Association released it's latest cross country regional polls. The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Cross Country team rose to the #7 position in the East, while the Men's squad slipped back to the #10 spot in the region.

In the last women's race, the NJIT Highlander Challenge, STAC finished second overall. Skylar Moreno was the top STAC finisher on the day with a time of 19:04.0, taking 11th overall in the women's 5K race. Following Moreno in order of finish were: Lesly Marcin (19:40.0), Ciara Durcan (19:57.0), Gabriella Mott (20:15.0), Madison Roth (20:26.0), Sophia Echeverria (21:07.0), Samantha Frisbee (22:07.0), Nicole Gysin (23:27.0), Ciara Doyle (25:38.0) and Adrian Schepis (28:05.0).

Meanwhile, the men took fourth place in the races contested at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. Andrew Drescher was the top Spartan finisher on the afternoon with a time of 26:11.0, placing ninth in the men's 8K event. Following Drescher in order of finish were: James Hughes (27:59.0), Alex Quillan (28:11.0), James Polisena (28:37.0), Charlie Moore (28:39.0), John Ciuffo (28:58.0), Kieran Keenan (29:01.0), Jack Terry-Kantor (29:37.0), Michael Califore (29:44.0), Kyle Koenig (31:32.0) and Sebastian Cherry (41:05.0).

The Spartans will next compete at the St. Joseph's University Invitational on Saturday, October 15. The meet takes place at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y. and will begin at 11:00 a.m.
