Brookville, N.Y. - On Saturday, St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country competed at the Long Island University Fall Festival to kick-off the program's 2023 season. In the races held on the former LIU Post campus on Long Island, the women's team finished 8th, while the men's squad placed 12th.
For the women, Zoe Merryman was the top finisher on the day with a time of 19:44.4 (16th place). Following Merryman in order of finish were: Ciara Durcan (22:40.4), Isabella Esposito-Farino (24:03.9), Jacqueline Kelly (24:42.2), Samantha Frisbee (25:57.7), Kristen Kennedy (26:40.2), Nicole Gysin (26:50.4), Veronica Valentik (27:18.0), Emma Neil (27:26.7) and Ciara Doyle (30:14.5).
Meanwhile, Charlie Moore was the top men's finisher on the afternoon with a time of 30:42.9. Following Moore in order of finish were: Nicholas Seitz (32:39.2), Alex Quillan (34:47.8), Kyle Koenig (38:27.0) and Ian Forsyth (41:48.8).
The Spartans will next compete at the Manhattan College Jasper Fall Cross Country Invitational, which will be held on Saturday, September 16 at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, N.Y.
