Saint Jacob Diodonet & Rickessen Opont, Men's Outdoor Track & Field

St. Jacob Diodonet, Rickssen Opont, Dante Brown & Travis Fay were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for May. 

St. Jacob Diodonet, Men's Outdoor Track & Field:

Diodonet stormed into the month of May with extraordinary performances leading up to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. At the St. John's University Tom Farrell Classic, Saint took at first place finish in the 400 Meter with a time of 47.38 and a second place finish in the 200 Meter, clocking in at 21.38. In his final tune-up before nationals, the senior sprinter from West Milford, NJ, finished second in the 400 with a time of 46.96 at the University of Mount Olive Last Chance Qualifier.

Saint-Jacob closed out his 4-year collegiate career at STAC with the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Diodonet took at 14th place finish in a time of 47.69.

In recognition of his work on the track this spring, Saint-Jacob was named a USTFCCCA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-East Region selection.

 

Rickssen Opont, Men's Outdoor Track & Field:

Opont concluded his stellar Spartan career with equally impressive results in preparation for the NCAA National Championships. At the St. John's University Tom Farrell Classic, Rickssen took first place in the Shot Put with a throw of 16.94 Meters (55'7"). In his final tune-up before nationals, the red shirt junior thrower from Nyack, NY, finished third in the Shot Put with a launch of 17.00 Meters (55'9.25") at the Army West Point Twilight.

In his inaugural debut at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, Rickssen placed 22nd in the Shot Put, throwing 16.47 Meters (54"0.5").

Opont was recognized for his outstanding work in the cage during the spring, as he was also named a USTFCCCA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-East Region selection.
