St. Jacob Diodonet, Rickssen Opont, Dante Brown & Travis Fay were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for May.
Travis Fay, Golf:
Travis helped lead the Spartans to a 5th place team finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Championship in early May, while posting a 5th place individual finish of his own at the championship.
Fay, a junior from Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia posted scores of 74, 73 and 74 and finished five over par (+5) in the 3-day event in Greensburg, PA.
In recognition of his work on the links over both the fall and spring seasons, Travis was named a GCAA Division II All-East Region selection.
Dante Brown, Men's Outdoor Track & Field:
Brown had impressive results during the month of May in preparation for the NCAA National Championships. At the St. John's University Tom Farrell Classic, Date took
first place in the Long Jump with a leap of 7.45 Meters (24'5.5"). In his final tune-up before nationals, the sophomore jumper from Nyack, NY, finished second in the Long Jump with a jump of 7.29 Meters (23'11") at the Army West Point Twilight.
In his inaugural debut at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, Dante placed 15th in the Long Jump, leaping 7.37 Meters (24"2.25").
Brown was recognized for his terrific work on the track during the spring, as he was named a USTFCCCA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-East Region selection.
