Rich Smith, Kyran Versteegen, Sarah Ericson and Nicole Gysin were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for January.
Sarah Ericson, Women's Basketball:
Sarah Ericson averaged 19.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in eight contests during the month of January. The junior guard from Norwich, Conn. also had 18 steals and five blocked shots, while shooting 46.2% (55-of-119) from the field, 37.7% (20-of-53) from three and 82.9% (29-of-35) from the foul line.
Ericson became the 23rd St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball player to reach the career 1,000-point mark on January 31 against Molloy University.
In recognition of her outstanding play, Sarah Ericson was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week on January 22 and 29, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II/III Player of the Week on January 23 and 30, and the D2CIDA Player of the Week on January 23.
