Rich Smith, Kyran Versteegen, Sarah Ericson and Nicole Gysin were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for January.

Nicole Gysin opened the new year with three top ten finishes at the Army West Point Open, placing sixth in the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 10.17, seventh in the High Jump with a leap of 1.46m (4'9.5") and ninth in the Shot Put with a toss of 7.46m (24'5.75").
The very next week, the senior from Waldwick, N.J. earned a 10th place finish in the High Jump with a leap of 1.50m (4'11") and finished eighth in the Triple Jump with a vault of 10.42m (34'2.25") at the annual Spartan Invitational.
Gysin closed out competition for the month at the Ramapo College Season Opener, where she placed 10th in the Triple Jump with a leap of 10.00m (32'9.75").
