Rich Smith, Kyran Versteegen, Sarah Ericson and Nicole Gysin were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for January.
Rich Smith, Men's Basketball:
Rich Smith averaged 12.0 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game in seven contests during the month of Janaury. The sophomore guard from Bronx, N.Y. also had 14 steals and five blocked shots, while shooting 57.4% (31-of-54) from the field and 64.7% (22-of-34) from the foul line.
In recognition of his exceptional play, Rich Smith was named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on January 22 and 29.
