
Sparkill, N.Y. - On Monday, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2025 ITA Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Regional Award recipients. Every year the ITA recognizes coaches and players for their excellence on the court and in their communities throughout the season.
The Division II regional awards include: ITA Coach of the Year, ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship, ITA Rookie of the Year, ITA Most Improved Senior, ITA Senior Player of the Year, ITA Player to Watch and ITA Community Service Award.
Men's Tennis athlete Erik Victor Tauson was named as the East Region Rookie of the Year, while Women's Tennis athlete Elita Silins earned East Region Senior Player of the Year, Kateryna Kryuchkova was selected as the East Region Player to Watch and Head Coach Dan Rockhill took home the East Region Women's Tennis Coach of the Year award.
Tauson (Malmo, Sweden) also earned ECC Rookie of the Year honors and went 15-7 in overall singles play in his rookie campaign. The STAC freshman also posted a 15-6 record in doubles action, and was tabbed as a the three-time ECC Rookie of the Week.
Silins (Northampton, England) also earned ECC All-Conference Season Team accolades and went 13-7 in singles action her final season for the maroon and gold. The St. Thomas Aquinas graduate student also posted a 15-6 mark in doubles play.
Kryuchkova (Kyiv, Ukraine) went 14-6 in overall singles play in her second season as a Spartan. The STAC sophomore also posted a 10-11 record in doubles action and is a rising star on what will be a young Spartans squad in 2025-26.
In his third season at the helm of the Spartans, Rockhill led the women's squad to a 15-5 overall record and a 4-1 mark in conference play, which allowed the team to earn a share of the ECC Regular Season title. STAC advanced to its fourth East Coast Conference Championship final in the last five years, but fell to Queens College. In regional play, the maroon and gold defeated both fifth-seeded Adelphi University (4-0) and top-seed University of New Haven (4-0) to advance to Florida and the NCAA Division II Round of 16, which gets underway on Wednesday, May 21 in Altamonte Springs.
No. 16 St. Thomas Aquinas College will battle No. 1 Barry University at Sanlando Park beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The ITA National Award recipients will be announced on Tuesday, May 20.
