STAC Cross Country and Track & Field Programs Take Part in 2025 Penguin Plunge Parade

Pearl River/New City, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Cross Country and Track & Field programs joined the greater Rockland County community in showing their support of three seriously ill children and their families by taking part in the 2025 Penguin Plunge Holiday Parade, which made its way through the towns of Pearl River and New City, New York.

The Penguin Plunge is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit group that works to help the families of seriously ill children meet their medical and support costs as they focus on their children's health. They are a 100% volunteer group located in Rockland County, NY, and each year their "colony" of penguins hosts an icy plunge into the Hudson River in honor of the children they sponsor. Since their founding in 2007, they have helped 43 children and raised over one million dollars in total contributions.

Since 2007, the Penguin Plunge has raised over $1,000,000 to help over three dozen families offset the astronomical medical costs that are associated with caring for a seriously ill child. These are your neighbors... your friends... your community. From toddlers to teenagers, boys and girls, these brave youngsters fight a daily battle to live a normal life in spite of the conditions they face. The Penguin Plunge counts on members of the community (like you!) to help them in their fight.

This year, the Penguin Plunge is supporting three local children who are bravely battling various medical challenges in their lives. 7-year old Kelsey Putnick of Blauvelt, 7-year old Logan Aris of Pearl River and 11-year old Bryce Friedman of New City. Read each of their stories, here.

The annual Penguin Plunge takes place on Sunday, March 1, 2006 in the icy waters of the Hudson River at Nyack Memorial Park in Nyack, New York. If you are interested in taking part in the event, sign up TODAY!
