Local Podiatrist Addresses Spartan Athletes

On Sunday, February 22nd, the St. Thomas Aquinas College athletes had the opportunity to speak with local podiatrist, Dr. Conenello.  Dr. Connello addressed over twenty-five athletes from the Cross Country, Track & Field and Women's Soccer teams about how to care for their feet.  The feet are the basis for many body ailments such as knee/hip/back pain.  He spoke with them about the mechanics of their feet and what each expects from their feet to participate in their sports.  Dr. Connello also brought a good friend and sneaker aficionado from The Running Company who explained how the athletes should choose sneakers that would best support their individual needs.  The doctor was able to chime in with his words of podiatric wisdom, providing a great exchange of professionals to answer the student-athletes questions.

Dr. Conenello is a local native of Orangetown, NY who graduated from Tappan Zee HS in 1982, and now runs his own Podiatry business right around the corner from STAC.  He is the director of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, and he participates in the Healthy Athletes Program, which recently took him to Idaho as a global clinical advisor for the Special Olympics World Winter Games.
