St. Rose Tops Spartans

The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team dropped both games to St. Rose on Friday in Palm Beach, FL.  STAC lost the first game 2-8 followed by a 2-6 defeat in the second game.  The Spartans will play a total of ten games in Florida over the course of the week.

Game 1 Recap:

Saint Rose broke apart the opener with a four-run fifth inning that afforded the Golden Knights a 7-0 lead.  Joe Giustino went 2-3 at bat for STAC while Kevin Connors and Dan Stroud each batted a run in.  Brian LaMarr had seven strikeouts in five innings and gave up seven runs in the loss.  Senior pitcher Jeremiah St. Louis earned the win for the Golden Knights striking out eleven batters in seven innings.

Game 2 Recap:

In the second game, Saint Rose benefited from another solid pitching performance as senior right-hander Brendan Malkowski matched St. Louis' effort with 11 strikeouts to earn the victory.  STAC freshman Nick Barbalato went 2-3 at bat.  Dan McDermott and George Wargo eached scored a run going 1-2, 1-3 at the plate.  Pitcher Mark Fochesato went seven innings striking out ten in the loss.
