The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team beat Molloy College, 7-3 in last nights ECC game. George Wargo hit an RBI single to score the go ahead run in the top of the tenth. Wargo was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run. Robert Frank got the win for STAC pitching 2.1 scoreless innings to close the game.
STAC got on top first as Davis Schwartz hit a solo homerun in the top of the second. Molloy's Robert LaRusso led off the fourth with a triple and scored off a ground ball by Anthony Luisi to tie the game, 1-1. Each team added a run in the fifth; the Spartans off an RBI single from Mike Apreda and Molloy picked up a solo homer from Brian Benes.
The Lions went ahead 3-2 in the sixth. The Spartans tied the game in the top of the eighth as David Schwartz singled. Joe DePool came in to pinch run. Wargo hit a single to left field in the next at bat and DePool scored on an fielding error.
In the tenth, Wargo's single scored Matt Marotta who led off with a single. Fred Moore hit an RBI single and Andrew Ahn had a 2-RBI single as STAC put together a 4-run inning to secure the win.
The Spartans will host Cladwell College on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Vet. The Spartans will meet up with the Lions again for a home double header on Friday.
