Spartans Fall to Lions, 7-4

The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team fell to Molloy College, 7-4 in Saturday evenings game.  Matt Smith hit an RBI triple in the 3rd and David Schwartz had a 2-RBI double in the 8th but it was not enough to hold off the Lions.  Smith was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI while Schwartz was 1-for-4 with a run and 2 RBI. 

Molloy jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind a Brian Benes 2-run homerun and a RBI triple from Pellechia.  Smith's triple scored freshman Mike Apreda who singled through the left side to bring STAC within three, 4-1.  The Lions added two more runs in the bottom of the third and another run in the sixth to take a 7-1 lead over the Spartans.  STAC rallied in the eighth, scoring three runs but ultimately fell short.  Schwartz's double scored Kevin Ryan who tripled and Smith who walked.  George Wargo added an RBI single to score Schwartz. 

STAC will play Molloy on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
