Spartans Go To Bat for A Great Cause

The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team hosted a charitable event benefiting The Wounded Warrior Project on Monday April, 22nd as they took on the Pioneers from LIU Post.  The Spartans encouraged fans to make a pledge to this benevolent organization, which is dedicated to supporting and raising awareness for injured service members.

Patrons supported the cause by making a donation and there was a check presentation for the Wounded Warrior Project between the first and second games.  This is the second year in a row that the Spartans have raised money and awareness and donated $1000.00 to the WWP.

Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP) began when several veterans and friends, moved by stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq, took action to help others in need. What started as a program to provide comfort items to wounded service members has grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and transition back to civilian life.  Tens of thousands of Wounded Warriors and caregivers receive support each year through WWP programs designed to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.
