Sunday Game Canceled - Saturday Game Now Official with 8-3 St. Thomas Aquinas Loss

Today's scheduled game between St. Thomas Aquinas College and St. Anselm's College has been canceled due to unplayable field conditions. Yesterday's suspended game now becomes official and reverts back to the last full inning, giving St. Anselm an 8-3 victory. STAC falls to 8-5 with the loss, while St. Anselm improves to 5-9-1.

St. Anselm strung together three hits off Spartan starter Eric Cooper, but was held to just one run scored. STAC answered in the second when Stanley Susana singled, stole second and scored on a Nick Gargan single.

The Hawks would break the tie with a run in the third and push across four more in the fourth, building a 6-1 lead and chasing Cooper. Gargan helped his team cut into the deficit with an RBI grounder plating Efrain Bautista, but St. A's would widen the gap with two more in the sixth to build an 8-2 gap.

Snow began falling on Provident Bank park and the intensity picked up as the Spartans grabbed a run back in the sixth, with Ken Kirschner's RBI single bringing in Mike Russo to make the score 8-3. St. Anselm grabbed that run back in the seventh, but with conditions becoming hazardous, play was suspended and eventually postponed in the middle of the seventh, also canceling the second game of the scheduled twin-bill.

While the contest was slated to be finished on Sunday, the field remained unplayable, thus turning the affair into a completed contest which reverts back to the final full inning of play, giving the Hawks an 8-3 decision.

Due to additional inclement weather predicted for this week, Tuesday's scheduled game at Felician College has now been moved to Monday, March at, at Provident Bank Park at 2:45 pm. Fans can follow the game on LiveStats as well as on our new video feed.
