The Bearded Blog; C.J. Ferriggi's NCAA Diary: 5/25/14

C.J. Ferriggi of the St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball Team is in Cary, North Carolina for the NCAA Division II Baseball Finals. Today, Ferriggi gives you the highlights of the first day of competition for the Spartans.

Sunday Funday...

The first game is upon us. We all wake up to get some food in our stomachs, as the anxiousness overwhelms each and everyone of us.

Game starts at 5 and we are heading out to the ballpark.

It's a great feeling to step out onto this field and look around to see so many fans in the seats and familiar faces amongst them. Family, friends, fellow athletes from other STAC Athletic Teams and members of the college administration are sitting right behind our dugout. I can't thank each one of them enough for following our team on this journey, which started on Long Island, took us to Manchester, New Hampshire and now Cary, North Carolina!

Tough loss today. We fell 5-4 in extra innings, but I couldn't be more proud of the fight in each and everyone of my teammates. We have been here before and the drooping heads will rise again, as we enter very familiar territory. Tuesday we play Minnesota-Mankato, backs against the wall; lose and go home. I'm not ready for that. Our journey is not done. NEVER OUT OF THE FIGHT!
