The Beardless Blog; C.J. Ferriggi's NCAA Diary: 5/27/14

C.J. Ferriggi of the St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball Team is in Cary, North Carolina for the NCAA Division II Baseball Finals. Today, Ferriggi gives you the highlights of the final day of competition for the Spartans.

This will never be forgotten...

Well an early wake-up call was in order for us this morning. Our game was moved to 1pm to avoid the bad weather that was scheduled to roll through in the late afternoon. Breakfast, then on the bus to the ballpark for what I had hoped would not be the final time.

The end of the season and some collegiate careers is now here. We lost our last game of the year to Minnesota State Mankato. Everyone's effort was outstanding and we never stopped fighting. I love my team.

I want to personally thank everyone who supported us through our run. Thank you to all of the STAC community for all of their support, and a special thank you to Dr. Fitzpatrick, Dr. Manning and Dr. Ferraro for making the trip to North Carolina to see and support our team. I will miss my team tremendously and the school and all of the people who make the place so special.

Tomorrow morning we get back on the bus and travel back to Sparkill, not with sad faces, but with our heads held high. We were the first team in school history to not only win the East Region, but also to be here in Cary. These memories are ones you can never forget and neither I, nor my teammates and coaches will ever forget that we were a part of the 2014 East Coast Conference Champion and NCAA Division II East Region Champion Spartan Baseball Team.
