Dingcong, Moscatiello & Pena Earn 2017 All-American Honors

St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball Athletes Giovanni Dingcong, Frankie Moscatiello and Joey Pena have been honored by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association with All-American Status.

D2CCA and ABCA/Rawlings has named Spartan Pitcher, Frankie Moscatiello a Third Team All-American selection, while the NCBWA has named him an All-American Honorable Mention selection. Moscatiello, the junior starting pitcher from Rocky Point, NY, currently holds a 9-1 record in 16 appearances for STAC, with a 1.77 ERA in 86.1 innings pitched. Frankie has only walked 35 opposing batters, while striking out another 91.

Giovanni Dingcong was named an NCBWA All-American honorable Mention selection. Dingcong, the junior outfielder from Daly City, CA, is hitting .300 with a record-breaking 19 homers, 51 RBIs and 52 runs scored in 58 games played. Dingcong possesses a .404 on-base percentage and is currently slugging .605. He also has 24 stolen bases in 28 attempts.

Meanwhile, Joey Pena, the junior shortstop from Brooklyn, NY took home both ABCA/Rawlings All-American Third Team honors and NCBWA All-American honorable mention status. Pena is hitting .382 with 6 home runs, 38 RBIs and 60 runs scored in 58 games. He also has 11 doubles, 4 triples, an on-base percentage of .518, is slugging .557 and has stolen 24 bases this season in 30 attempts.

St. Thomas Aquinas continues its quest for a National Championship on Tuesday, May 30, taking on Colorado Mesa at 8:00 Eastern time in Grand Prairie, Texas.
