Spartan Baseball Alum Moscatiello Joins Rockland Boulders

St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball Alum Frankie Moscatiello was signed on Friday by the Rockland Boulders of the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball (Can-Am League).

The Boulders were searching for an additional arm that could be an immediate contributor and a steady presence on the mound and Moscatiello, the Rocky Point, NY native, was asked to fill that role beginning Friday evening at Palisades Credit Union Park, a place that Frankie is very familiar with.

Frankie took the hill against the Dominican Republic National Team in a relief appearance, pitching the eight inning and striking out the side, as the Boulders rolled to a 16-0 victory in Friday's Can-Am League International Series opener in Pomona. Among the 2,300 fans in attendance were Matt's family, friends and former Spartan coaches and teammates to see his Boulders debut.

Moscatiello, appeared in 15 games for St. Thomas Aquinas College in 2018, starting 13 of those contests, posting an impressive 9-3 record and a 2.69 ERA in 80.1 innings pitched. Frankie also recorded 1 save, 2 complete games and 2 shutouts, while striking out 78 opposing batters and only walking 46 others.

In his four year career as a Spartan, Moscatiello appeared in 53 games for STAC, starting 36 of those contests, posting an outstanding 20-7 record with 2 saves and a 2.52 ERA in 232.1 innings pitched. He was also a member of four NCAA East Regional Tournament appearances (2015-2018), one of which the college's second East Region Championship (2017), and assisted in leading St. Thomas Aquinas to the 2017 Division II World Series in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Frankie's awards and honors were numerous during his 4-year tenure with the Spartans, as he was named the ECC Pitcher of the Year in 2017, along with All-Conference honors in 2017 and 2018. The East Coast Conference also selected him on seven separate occasions over 2017 and 2018 as their Pitcher of the Week.
