The St. Thomas Aquinas College baseball team has earned the #2 seed in the East Regional of the NCAA Division II Baseball Tournament, which will be hosted by the University of New Haven at Pace University. The Spartans (36-13) will begin the defense of their regional championship of a year ago taking on Wilmington University in East Game 2 on Thursday, May 17 at 3:00 pm.

By winning their fourth East Coast Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday, STAC secured an appearance in its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament. One year ago, the Spartans captured their second East Region title (the previous being in 2014), and were just one victory away from the National Championship final game, earning a national ranking as high as #3 this season.

Wilmington secured a slot in the regional by capturing the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament by topping Felician University. This battle will be a rematch of the 2015 East Regional Championship game, which saw Wlmington outlast St. Thomas Aquinas to win the East title.

If the Spartans win Thursday's opener, they will play at 7:00 pm Friday against the winner of Game 1 between #3 LeMoyne and #6 Merrimack. Should STAC lose on Thursday, they will play an elimination game at 11:00 am Friday against the loser of Game 1.
