Kyle Lagrutta of the St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team was named the ECC Player of the Week on Monday following the Spartans 4-1 week on the diamond.
Lagrutta had the hot bat as the Spartans won four-of-five on the week, including an ECC sweep over Lincoln. The sophomore catcher from Commack, N.Y., had two multi-hit games including a 4-for-4 outing in the opener against Lincoln, batting .615 overall for the week (8-for-13). He also scored six runs and drove in five, while playing error-free ball behind the plate.
St. Thomas Aquinas returns to action with a four-game series against Mercy College, traveling for single games on Thursday, April 18, and Monday, April 22, with a home twin-bill on Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 pm at Palisades Credit Union Park.
