STAC Baseball Swept By Queens After Dropping Series Finale 13-2

Flushing, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team suffered a four-game regular season series sweep at the hands of Queens College on Sunday afternoon, as the Knights posted a nine-run first inning en route to a 13-2 defeat of the Spartans at Hennekens Stadium.

STAC falls to 15-23 overall and 6-9 in ECC play, while Queens moves to 24-14 and 14-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

Btm 1st Inning - Jorsixt Jimenez advanced to second base on a wild pitch, as Robert Jacobsen advanced to third base and Phil Krpata scored an unearned run on the wild pitch. 1-0 QC

Btm 1st Inning - Joey Patane singled to left field with the bases loaded, advancing Marc Cisco advanced to second base, Jorsixt Jimenez to third base and Robert Jacobsen to the plate with an unearned run. 2-0 QC

Btm 1st Inning - Josh Rodriguez singled through the left side with the bases full of Knights, moving Joey Patane advanced to second base and Marc Cisco to third base, while Jorsixt Jimenez scored. 3-0 QC

Btm 1st Inning - Jaden Rivera walked with the bases juiced, advancing Josh Rodriguez to second base, Joey Patane to third base and Marc Cisco to the plate. 4-0 QC

Btm 1st Inning - Michael Vilardi singled through the left side with the bases loaded, moving Jaden Rivera to second base and Josh Rodriguez to third base, while scoring Joey Patane. 5-0 QC

STAC PERFORMANCES:

  • Sean Lynch went 3-for-4 on the day, smacking a pair of doubles, while also scoring once.
  • Ryan Appell (1-for-1) went yard for the Spartans, his first of the year, recording both an RBI and a run scored.
  • STAC also received hits from Kyle DeCresce (1-4, RBI), Chris Ewing (1-3), Gregory DiGiaro (1-3), Colin Ross (1-1), Nick Oelcher (1-1, 2B)
  • Cole Lindquist got the start for STAC in the series finale on Sunday and lasted only 0.2 innings, allowing nine runs (three earned) on six hits, while walking two. Lindquist is tagged with the loss and moves to 1-1 on the season.
  • Bobby LeFevre, Andrew Speranza, Lorent Hoti and Ryan Callaghan all saw time out of the bullpen for the Spartans and combined to hurl 7.1 innings, surrendering eight hits and four runs (three earned), with three walks and 10 strikeouts.
