
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team busted out of its recent hitting slump on Friday afternoon with 23 total hits, 11 of the extra-base variety, as the Spartans held on for a 22-18 road triumph at Mercy University.
STAC moves to 4-14 on the year, while Mercy slips to 13-11 on the season following the wild conference contest whose score resembled a football outcome rather than a baseball game.

- Ryan Hillery (2-4, Home Run, 2 RBI, 5 Runs & Walk) and David Potenza (2-5, Double, Home Run, 2 RBI, 2 Runs & Walk) each left the yard Friday's contest.
- Kyle DeCresce (2-2, Double & 2 RBI), Nick Oelcher (2-5, 2 RBI & 3 Runs) and Joseph Scamardella (2-6, Double, 2 RBI & Run) picked up a pair of hits each on the day.
- Andrew Alameda got the start for the maroon and gold in the conference opener and gave up seven runs on seven hits over 3.1 innings of work, while walking four and fanning a lone Maverick. Alameda was charged with a no-decision.
- John Dezago, Trey Eckman and Jeremiah Vega each saw time out of the bullpen and combined to allow seven runs (four earned) on seven hits, with six walks and four strikeouts in four innings of relief. Dezago would earn his first win (1-1) of the campaign via a scoreless 1.2 innings, only allowing a hit and four walks, while mowing down four Mercy hitters.
- Closer Kyle Rogers came into the game in the eighth inning with one out and surrendered four runs on four hits, but didn't issue a walk and struck out three. Despite allowing the hosts to close their deficit to four, Rogers picked up his first save of the season.

- The Spartans totaled 22 runs on 23 hits, with 2 errors, while Mercy garnered 18 runs on 18 hits, with two errors.
