STAC Baseball Drops Series Opener to Molloy, 13-3

Uniondale, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team opened a four-game East Coast Conference weekend series with Molloy University by dropping at 13-3 decision on Friday at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex on Long Island.

STAC falls to 7-20 overall and 4-5 in ECC action, while Molloy improves to 16-11 and 6-3.

STAC PERFORMANCES:

  • David Potenza smacked a solo home run in a 1-for-2 afternoon. He added an RBI, a run scored and was walked once.
  • The Spartans also saw hits from Ryan Hillery (1-3, 2B & Run), Anthony Dimarco (1-3, Run, Walk), Kyle DeCresce (1-4, RBI), Nick Oelcher (1-4, RBI) and Joseph Scamardella (1-4).
  • Andrew Alameda got the start for the maroon and gold in conference bout and gave up seven runs (five earned) on five hits in three innings of work, while walking one and striking out one. Alameda was charged with loss and falls to 1-4 on the year.
  • Ricardo Gonzalez, Anthony Holtje and James Kahn each saw action out of the bullpen and combined to allow six runs (five earned) on eight hits in five innings of relief with five walks and four Ks.
