
West Haven, Conn. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team wrapped up its a four-game weekend series with the University of New Haven at Frank Vieira Field on Sunday afternoon, once again dropping both ends of a doubleheader 6-0 and 4-3 in eight innings.
STAC drops to 3-13 on the season, while New Haven improves to 10-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE):
Bottom 1st Inning - Robert Taylor homered, 2 RBI; Matt McIntire scored. (2-0 UNH)
Bottom 2nd Inning - Matt McIntire singled, 2 RBI; Nick Ungania advanced to second base; Kenneth Franquiz scored; Cam McGugan scored. (4-0 UNH)
Bottom 6th Inning - Cole Maucere doubled, RBI; Tyler Wells scored. (5-0 UNH)
Bottom 8th Inning - Cam McGugan reached first base on an error by the third baseman; Joseph Frazzetta scored, team unearned. (6-0 UNH)

Bottom 4th Inning - Casey Cerruto flied out to right field on a sacrifice fly, RBI; Cole Maucere advanced to second base on a passed ball; Tyler Wells scored. (2-0 UNH)
Bottom 4th Inning - EJ Ettinger doubled, RBI; Cole Maucere scored. (3-0 UNH)
Top 6th Inning - Ben Moscatiello singled, RBI; Tyler Haydt scored. (3-1 UNH)

STAC PERFORMANCES:
- Joseph Scamardella (1-4, Double) and Kyle DeCresce (1-3) recorded the only hits for the Spartans in the opener.
- Tyler Haydt went 2 for 3 in game two, with a double, two RBI and a run scored for the maroon and gold.
- STAC also saw hits from Michael Zeis (1-3, Run) and Ben Moscatiello (1-2, RBI) in the final game of the series.
- Cole Lindquist got the start in game one of Sunday's twin bill and lasted just one inning, allowing two runs on one hit, while walking one. Lindquist took the loss and moves to 0-1 on the year.
- Tom O'Neill, Aiden Cardenas and Trey Eckman were each summoned from the bullpen for the final seven innings for the Spartans and surrendered seven hits and four runs. The trio also combined to walk two Chargers hitters, while striking out another five.
- Andrew Schoelles took the mound for game two and gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits over 4.0 innings of work, while K-ing one. Schoelles was charged with a no-decision.
- Relievers John Dezago and Kyle Rogers each saw action on the mound for the maroon and gold. In 3.1 innings, the duo allowed a run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Rogers was charged with the loss and falls to 1-2 on the year as a result of his 1.1 innings where he gave up the game winning run in extra innings on two hits, while issuing a walk.

- The Spartans totaled 3 runs on 6 hits, with 3 errors, while New Haven earned 10 runs on 16 hits, with no errors in the twin bill.
- STAC pitchers struck out 8 Chargers batters, while issuing 4 walks on the day.
- St. Thomas Aquinas stranded 7 runners on base, while New Haven left 10 in the doubleheader.
