Spartans Spoil Molloy's Inaugural Home Opener with 59-7 Victory

Uniondale, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Sprint Football Team took to the road on Friday evening, visiting the newest member of the Collegiate Sprint Football League, Molloy University. STAC spoiled the Lions inaugural home debut with a 59-7 victory at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex on Long Island.

STAC improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the CSFL North Division, while Molloy slips to 0-2 and 0-2.

STAC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

  • Jayden Bennermon led the Spartans' offense with five receptions totaling 85 yards and three scores. His longest catch went for 43 yards.
  • Davion Hicks drove the maroon and gold ground game, with 12 rushing attempts for 86 yards and a touchdown. His largest run was for 32 yards.
  • Starting quarterback Ryan Kenny completed 9 of 15 passes, for 117 yards, while throwing three touchdowns and an interception.
  • The Spartans also saw rushing TDs from Tynez Harp and Thomas McGuinness.
  • On the defensive side of the ball, JoJo Miranda recorded 8 tackles (3 solo, 5 assist), while Ethan Hence made 7 stops (3 solo, 4 assist) and recovered a fumble.
  • Lions QB Paulie Drummond V was dropped five times in the game for losses totaling 25 yards. Ibrahim Conteh (1.5 sacks), Brayan Anaman (1 sack), Jayden Bennermon (1 sack), Daniel Mcleish (1 sack) and Andrew Riley (0.5 sacks) had Drummond on the run all night long.
  • STAC intercepted Molloy on two occasions in the contest.
  • Kicker Jeremy Schucker hit a 28-yard field goal and was successful on all eight of his extra point attempts.
