Spartans Get First Win With 2-1 Victory Over Ramapo

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's field hockey team beat Ramapo College, 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon. The win marks the new programs first victory, as the Spartans came from behind to get the job done. Late goals from Rookie's Angela Rendina and Carley Davin led the Spartans to victory.

Davin had the assist to go along with Rendina's goal at the 52 minute mark in the second half.  With the game tied; Jacquelina Dowling's assist to Davin gave STAC the game winning goal.  Nicole Amerling had 6 saves in the win.

The Spartans earned their first victory less than one month into their inagural season.  Head Coach Laurie Mayernick picks up her first collegiate coaching win at the helm of her young team, consisting of 12 freshmen and 4 upperclassmen.

Nicole Healy scored for the Roadrunners off an assists from Lauren Grosso.  STAC will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Mercy for a 3:00 p.m. game.
