Mavericks Score in Double OT to Take, 3-2 Win Over Spartans

The St. Thomas Aquinas field hockey team lost to cross town rival Mercy College, 3-2 in double OT.  Carley Davrin scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Jacquelin Dowling, to give STAC a 1-0 lead.  

The Maverics took a 2-1 lead before Cyan Scarduzio was able to tie the game with a penalty storke.  Vanessa Soler had one goal and two assists for Mercy.  Kimberly Sands scored the game winner in the second overtime session to give the Mavericks the win.  

Nicole Amerling had 12 saves for STAC.  The Spartans coming off their first win put up a hard fight against a tough Mercy team.  STAC will play their first home game on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. against Bellamine University.
