
The St. Thomas Aquinas field hockey team lost to Slippery Rock, 2-0 on Saturday evening. Jessica Stewart had eight saves for the game.
Kaitlyn Gutenberger had the Spartans only shot attempt. Allison Grant scored at the 24:42 mark to put Slippery Rock on the board. The Rock kept the pressure on in the second period and at 46:11 Jordan Barnes received a pass from Megan McKay and proceeded to beat Stewart and give SRU a two-goal advantage with her first collegiate goal.
Slippery Rock held advantages over the Spartans in total shots (29-1), shots on goal (10-0) and penalty corners (13-1).
Nicole Bream got the win in goal for Slippery Rock. The Spartans will return to action on Thursday when they host Ramapo to start a four game home stretch. Thursday's game time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
