Spartan Field Hockey Earns 1-0 Victory Over Molloy

The St. Thomas Aquinas field hockey team beat Molloy College, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. Alexandra Vippolis scored her first career goal leading the Spartans to their first win in program history.  

The Spartans dominated on the offensive end with 21 shots on goal to the Lions 3.  Molloy's Arianna Ovadia recorded 19 saves.  The Spartans persistent attack paid off when Vippolis scored off an assist from Kaitlyn Gutenberger at the 23:18 mark of the first half.  Gutenberger kept the pressure on Molloy with nine shots on goal.  

Jessica Stewart continued her solid play in goal for the Spartans recording three saves.  The Spartans tightened up their defense holding the Lions scoreless and securing the victory.  

STAC will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Pace University at 4 p.m. Tuesday's game will be the fifth straight home game for the Spartans, before they play seven of their next ten on the road.
