Strong Finish Lifts Greyhounds Past Spartans. 4-2

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's field hockey team lost to Assumption College, 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.  Sarah Quarto and Jacqueline Dowling scored for the Spartans marking the first two goals of the season.  Jessica Stewart had fourteen saves for STAC.

Quarto's goal came at the 20:13 mark as she knocked a rebounded ball into the back of the goal to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead.  Danielle Heady had the assist on the goal.  Assumption's Belle Ives's responded with a goal for the Greyhounds just six minutes later to tie things at 1-up.  Amanda Frank had the assists on Ives goal.  

Tied after the break, the Spartans were able to regain the lead as Jacqueline Dowling scored off an assist from Carley Davin.  Ives balanced things out, off an assist from Allison Sheahan, knotting the score at 2-2.  Sheahan contributed again as the Greyhounds added another goal just two minutes later to take the lead.  Sam Tepper's goal in the final minute of action was the icing on the cake, solidifying Assumptions 4-2 win.  

The Spartans will return to action on Wednesday when they host Manhattanvile College at 4:00 p.m.
