
The St. Thomas Aquinas field hockey team lost to Pace University, 2-0 on Monday afternoon. The Spartans had three shots on goal but could not connect.
In the eighth minute of the game, freshman Louise Wegener sent in a penalty corner to Hailey Rose at the top of the circle, leaving her open to fire one past the keeper to put the Setters up, 1-0. Rose struck again in the 48th minute, one-timing a goal-line pass from freshman Madison McGowan into the cage to make it a 2-0 lead for the Setters.
Pace had a slight advantage in penalty corners, 6-3 over STAC. Spartan goal keeper Jessica Stewart had four saves for the game.
STAC will have a week and a half layoff between games, returning to action on Saturday, October 29th when they traveling to Molloy College for a noon game.
