The St. Thomas Aquinas College Field Hockey team dropped a 3-2 road decision to Bentley University on Thursday evening in Waltham, Massachusetts.

In the first half of action, the Falcons scored three times on Spartan goalie, Suzanne Clarke. Sam Pavano tallied her second of the season on a drive off of a penalty corner a little over seventeen and a half minutes into the opening frame. Just under five minutes later, Tess Anderson deposited her team-leading goal ninth of the season into the back of the Spartan cage, making it 2-0 Bentley. Abby Adams closed out the scoring for the Falcons with under two minutes remaining in the half, on a net mouth scramble, to make it 3-0.

The second half saw the tide turn in favor of the visitors in maroon and gold, as Arielle Rodriguez popped in her first of the season on a pass deflection off of the Bentley defense, which took a lucky bounce onto Rodriguez's stick, making it 3-1 about mid-way through the final stanza. The Spartans would ramp up the pressure on the Falcons with a second goal, this time by Lotte Strijbos (first of season) on a pass from her teammate Rodriguez, with just about a minute to play in the match. However, Bentley held serve as the closing seconds ticked off of the clock surrendering no further goals, and giving the hosts the victory.

Spartan keeper Suzanne Clarke made 4 saves on the evening, while goalies Kayleigh Vogel and Jana Mones split time in the net for Bentley.

The Falcons had a 13-4 shots advantage and a 9-1 edge on penalty corners.

St. Thomas Aquinas College will next be in action, as they continue their five-game road trip, when they take on Saint Anselm College on Sunday, October 7 at 1pm.
