
The St. Thomas Aquinas women's field hockey team lost their opening game game at Franklin Pierce, 2-1 on Friday afternoon. Jacqueline Dowling scored for the Spartans while Suzanne Clarke recorded five saves in the loss.
The first half presented as a defensive battle with neither team scoring. Dowling's goal in the second half gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead. Raegan Moulton evened things out with a goal at the 60 minute mark off a penalty shot. Three minutes later Dayna Koweski scored off an assist from Feline Van Doorn to give the host Ravens a 2-1 lead.
Olivia Barnes recorded four saves for Franklin Pierce. The Ravens held a 13-5 lead in penalty corners over the Spartans. The Spartans will take on American International on Sturday afternoon.
