The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Field Hockey team takes the #8 seed into Monday's Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Quarterfinal, traveling to face #1 seed Assumption University at 7:00 pm in Worcester, Massachusetts (Brian Kelly Stadium).

How They Got Here - The Spartans wrapped up the regular season with a record of 8-10 and 7-7 in the NE-10, clinching a spot in the tournament. The standings/seeding results are as follows: #1 Assumption University (17-1 overall, 14-0 NE-10), #2 Bentley University (14-4 overall, 12-2 NE-10), #3 Stonehill College (13-4 overall, 11-3 NE-10), #4 Saint Anselm College (14-4 overall, 11-3 NE-10), #5 Pace University (13-5 overall, 10-4 NE-10), #6 Adelphi University (12-5 overall, 10-4 NE-10), #7 University of New Haven (9-9 overall, 9-5 NE-10), #8 St. Thomas Aquinas College (8-10 overall, 7-7 NE-10).
 
The Match-Up - St. Thomas Aquinas faced Assumption one time during the 2021 regular season, falling to the Greyhounds 3-0 in their regular season finale on October 30. The match-up, held at Brian Kelly Stadium, saw the hosts strike for two second quarter goals (McKenzie Patterson and Shannon Quinlan) and a third quarter goal (Isabel Primack) to capture the victory. Greyhounds keeper Kylie Gargiulo only had to make one stop over 60 minutes of action to pick up her 17th win of the year (17-1), while Spartans goalie Jessie Hohenstein suffered her 10th defeat of the season (8-10), stopping 10 of 13 shots faced in the match.
 
All-Time RecordSTAC and Assumption have faced off five times in regular season action since 2016. The Greyhounds hold a record of 5-0, outscoring the Spartans 20-5 in those matchups.
 
Players to Watch - The Spartans were led in the regular season by senior Lauren Cooper with 21 points (10 goals & 1 assist), sophomore Hailey Galison with 14 points (5 goals and 4 assists), freshman Nicola Van Vuuren with 11 points (5 goals & 1 assist) and sophomore Olivia Cerbo with 11 points (5 goals & 1 assist). In the cage, senior Jessie Hohenstein played in all 18 contests, going 8-10 with a 1.93 goals against average and a .786 save percentage. Hohenstein also posted a shutout in 18 starts.
 
On the other side, the Greyhounds were led by freshman Mia Salah with 31 points (14 goals & 3 assists), senior Deirdre Burchill with 30 points (12 goals & 6 assists), and Isabel Primack with 27 points (10 goals & 7 assists). In net, senior Kylie Gargiulo played in all 18 contests, going 17-1 with a 0.60 goals against average and a .864 save percentage. Gargiulo also posted 10 shutouts in 18 starts.
 
What's Next? - The winner of this quarterfinal match-up will advance to play the winner of #4 Saint Anselm College vs. #5 Pace University in the semifinal round of the tournament on Thursday, November 4.
